South Africa vs New Zealand 1st T20 Match Report & Analysis

South Africa vs New Zealand 1st T20 2015

New Zealand tour to South Africa is a new starting game for the cricket lovers. Yesterday
1st T20 was played between New Zealand and South Africa in Durban, where South Africa won
the first Twenty20 International against New Zealand in Durban by six wickets by chasing down
151 in the 18th over to go 1-0 up in the two-match series.

AB devillers lead the team as the Skipper Du plessis was not present because of the injury.  South Africa won the toss and selected to bowl first and they restricted the score of New Zealand to maximum. The bowlers and fielders of South Africa contributed well in order to lessen the score of the opponents. The openers of New Zealand tried their best to score well, Kane Williamson really played smashingly and scored 42 in only 21 balls. He was very much confident while playing and his contribution was a healthy contribution towards the good total against South Africa. But unfortunately the middle order failed to bat well. As soon as the top order gone to pavilion, the chances to score well became minimum. New Zealand’s scorecard for the middle order did not played well, South Africa deserve some credit for pulling things, New Zealand completely lost the plot as soon as they lost their top order batsmen.

South Africa Won by 6 Wicket

They need to do better if they hope to be competitive. Aaron Phangiso, a superb bowler of South Africa who started the squeeze with an opening over that included the wicket of Kane Williamson. Home ground proved to be the lucky ground for Phangiso as he dismissed the most responsible batsmen of New Zealand and marked the player of the match award towards himself. New Zealand threatened to make it a one-man show before he was beaten by flight and stumped for a 21 from 42 balls as mentioned above.

South Africa started steadily, reaching 15 after three over’s. But soon they reached closer to the target. However Skipper de Villiers scored 33 and looked in great touch as South Africa marched
confidently to 79 for one after 10 over’s. He led the team as a torch bearer and that was why they won the match. Rilee Rossouw is another brilliant batsman of South Africa played extremely
well and proved that the game was in their hands. He played 20 balls and scored 38 runs with
four fantastic fours and two massive sixes. South Africa really expressed the good team work
and brilliant performance. South Africa reached the target in 17.5 over’s winning the 1st T20 by
six wickets.

Tomorrow will be the second T20 between both the teams and it would be highly expected that it will be equalize by 1-1. And for this case New Zealand must realize that it has to play very confidently and responsibly. And they should not expect less from the South Africans, as they have that brilliant and versatile potential in each of the player.
